Anna and the French Kiss has so many lovable characters that I just couldn't help myself: I HAD to make a fancast! Anna - Mackenzie Foy Anna has brown hair and brown eyes, and she's very pretty. Mackenzie Foy is a bit younger than Anna, but she looks old enough and she fits the description! St. Clair - Rhys Bond He is pretty, has brown hair and eyes, and has a nice smile. All things Anna mentions about him in the book. Although St. Clair is also said to have half-long hair, so Rhys Bond would have to grow his out a bit to suit the role. Meredith - Sabrina Carpenter A cute blonde who looks like she could also be a football playing badass. Rashmi - Zendaya Coleman I was looking at some other people's fancasts for Anna and the French Kiss and they cast a white girl as Rashmi? No thanks. Zendaya Coleman is gorgeous and fierce and she would be amazing as Rashmi. Josh - Cameron Boyce Okay, don't Google this guy because you will get his baby pictures from when he was 14 and in Disney Channel's Jessie. He's grown up nicely now and would suit a slightly more grown up role! Let me know what you think! Do you have any suggestions for other actors?

SYNOPSIS: After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her ... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best. Then one of the other contestants turns up dead ... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined. Rating: 5/5
Wow, I LOVED this!! Throne of Glass is a super thrilling and exciting story and I was so into it that I got annoyed with myself for being hungry and having to get up to eat because that meant I had to stop reading. It started as a nice action novel, but as it went on more and more mysteries were introduced that kept calling me back to the story and gripping my attention. I was a bit disappointed that not all mysteries were solved at the end of the book, but I suppose there's a whole series of books to follow that will hopefully answer all of my questions! I loved Caelena, as she was super fierce and awesome but also had feelings and depth to her character. Also, she was described as being sickly thin and she gained weight throughout the story! Being very thin was not seen as ideal! Fantastic! I'm generally not a fan of love triangles and relationships where the boy is way too old for the girl, so if you've read Throne Of Glass you can guess which couple I'm rooting for. I liked Chaol more as a character than Dorian, but Chaol is just too old for Caelena so they'd be better off as friends. Nehemia was also an excellent character, as she showed that you don't just need one good female character to make a book nice and diverse; women are just as much capable of taking on ANY role in a book a man could, and Nehemia was the awesome sidekick whom I hope to see lots of in the rest of the series. The story itself was thrilling and gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat, which I suppose I could've expected from a book with a character called "Eye Eater". Seriously, this book is not for the weak of heart as it has some gruesome descriptions of murders and does not shy away from the gross and scary. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is of an appropriate age (I don't think this book fits a younger Young Adult audience) and likes Fantasy! Definitely let me know if you've read this book and what you thought of it! Did you love it as much as I did? Goodreads: www.goodreads.com/book/show/7896527-throne-of-glass?from_search=true Amazon: www.amazon.com/Throne-Glass-Sarah-J-Maas/dp/1619630346 Most of the books I read when I was little were Dutch books, so I will try to find some that are originally English, or have been translated. As opposed to many of you, probably, I did not read Harry Potter as a kid, as my mum is very religious and didn't want me reading them, so I didn't read them until I was 13/14! The Outsiders of Uskoken Castle - Kurt HeldThis was my favourite book ever when I was younger. I got it one year for Sinterklaas (Dutch Santa), and I started reading it while the presents were still being passed out. I completely lost interest in everything that wasn't this book for the rest of the night. It's been one of my all-time favourite books ever since and I still like to reread it from time to time. The Bed and Breakfast Star - Jacqueline WilsonI was already an avid reader when I was a child, so people used to just give me random books for my birthdays and Christmas and such. This is one of those books I didn't specifically ask for, but someone picked it out for me. I loved this book! I reread it so many times and I still remember the story very well even though I haven't read it in at least 8 years. Puppy Patrol series - Jenny DaleI have always loved dogs, so when I was younger I used to love books about dogs. Puppy Patrol by Jenny Dale was one of my favourite series! What books did you love when you were a kid? Let me know!
I've recently gotten a bit more into fashion and things like the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (those costumes are so pretty! All handmade as well!), so I thought I'd give you guys a little list of books that are about fashion in one way or another! The Fashion Committee - Susan JubySYNOPSIS: Charlie Dean is a style-obsessed girl who eats, sleeps, and breathes fashion. John Thomas-Smith is a boy who forges metal sculptures in his garage and couldn’t care less about clothes. Both are gunning for a scholarship to the private art high school that could make all their dreams come true. And whoever wins the fashion competition will win the scholarship. Full review here. This book only came out a short while ago, and I read it even earlier because I got an advance copy (yay). I really liked this book and it was all about fashion! Charlie lives and breathes fashion, and she makes some eccentric fashion choices herself. This book is the most fashion based on this list. Lola and the Boy Next Door - Stephanie PerkinsSYNOPSIS: Lola Nolan is a budding costume designer, and for her, the more outrageous, sparkly, and fun the outfit, the better. And everything is pretty perfect in her life (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood. When Cricket, a gifted inventor, steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door. Full review here. Lola's story isn't all about fashion. Her love of fashion and costume designing is a side-plot in this book. It's still very relevant though, as Lola's entire personality revolves around clothes. Her clothes are described very often, and she is working on a big project for a ball gown modelled on Marie-Antoinette's dresses. This is a love story + fashion! Geek Girl - Holly SmaleSYNOPSIS: Harriet Manners knows a lot of things. She knows that a cat has 32 muscles in each ear, a "jiffy" lasts 1/100th of a second, and the average person laughs 15 times per day. What she isn't quite so sure about is why nobody at school seems to like her very much. So when she's spotted by a top model agent, Harriet grabs the chance to reinvent herself. Even if it means stealing her Best Friend's dream, incurring the wrath of her arch enemy Alexa, and repeatedly humiliating herself in front of the impossibly handsome supermodel Nick. Even if it means lying to the people she loves. As Harriet veers from one couture disaster to the next with the help of her overly enthusiastic father and her uber-geeky stalker, Toby, she begins to realise that the world of fashion doesn't seem to like her any more than the real world did. And as her old life starts to fall apart, the question is: will Harriet be able to transform herself before she ruins everything? Full review here. Harriet is a lovable nerd who is thrown into the fashion and modelling world. This book isn't as much about fashion as it is about a complete outsider trying to understand the fashion industry. This series is one of my favourites and it's hilarious and heart-warming and heartbreaking at the same time. Are you interested in fashion? Did you read/like any of these books? Let me know!
SYNOPSIS: For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks. Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined. Rating: 4/5
I honestly didn't expect to like this as much as I did. This book wasn't great, but it was an easy and entertaining read and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I started out eye-rolling at America quite a bit because she is the typical red haired protagonist who doesn't think she is pretty but is clearly blessed with supermodel looks. This quickly improved though and I started liking America. She is made to be liked by everyone, by being 'different' and a bit of an outsider by wanting to wear pants and not falling head over heels for the prince like all the other girls. I wasn't too annoyed by this though, because even though I was aware it was happening, I liked her anyway. I feel like the plot of this series is really stretched out over all three of the books, because this first book didn't really have a typical plot structure, as in peace-events-peace, but it feels like it's still in the uprising to the climax when it ends. This is fine by me, but it does mean I need to read the next two books ASAP! I'm really looking forward to reading them because even though I'm pretty sure I can quite accurately predict the outcome of this story I still enjoy reading it a lot. I liked that although America is set up to be a clear favourite, we still get to read about the other girls a bit as well and I love Marlee and Kriss. Of course I hate Celeste, as she is made to be the Stereotypical Mean Girl, but once again, I don't mind this set-up. This book can get away with using stereotypical characters: it just works. Maxon's character is also quite stereotypical but I like him nonetheless. I'd recommend this book to people looking for a quick and fun read, but if you're looking for a proper good book, I'd recommend you look elsewhere. This book really is just simple entertainment. Goodreads: www.goodreads.com/book/show/10507293-the-selection Amazon: www.amazon.com/Selection-Kiera-Cass/dp/0062059947 This Wednesday's topic is quite hard, as I don't think I've read many books without romantic plots! I will also include books with barely any romance, as I'm afraid this list would be very short otherwise... The Book Thief - Markus ZusakThe Book Thief is about a young girl in the second world war, so there's no romantic subplot as the main character is simply too young. It is a beautiful read though and there is a theme of love; it's just not romantic love. The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner #1) - James DashnerThe first book in the series does not have a romantic plot, as there are only boys who are apparently all heterosexual. The later books do have a romantic subplot, but this first one doesn't! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter #1) - J.K. RowlingThis series involves plenty of romance later on, but this first book has none! I'm not entirely sure when the romance begins exactly, but I think the second book is romance-free as well. Me & Earl & the Dying Girl - Jesse AndrewsNo romantic plot! Greg loves Rachel a lot, but they never have any romantic encounters and it is unclear whether he is even in love with her or just infatuated. The Fashion Committee - Susan JubyOne of the main characters, Charlie Dean, has no romantic subplot at all, but she does deal with other kind of love, such as for her father, who is a recovering drug addict, and her father's new girlfriend, who is also a recovering drug addict and is dealing with an abuse ex boyfriend on the side. The other main character, John, does have some sort of a romantic subplot and has a girlfriend, but it is complicated. The romantic plot is not important because it is a romance, is all I can say about it without spoiling it! Okay, I'm kind of proud I managed to get five! It's surprisingly hard to think of YA books without a romantic plot... Do you know any more? Let me know!
SYNOPSIS: At first, Jude and her twin brother are NoahandJude; inseparable. Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude wears red-red lipstick, cliff-dives, and does all the talking for both of them. Years later, they are barely speaking. Something has happened to change the twins in different yet equally devastating ways . . . but then Jude meets an intriguing, irresistible boy and a mysterious new mentor. The early years are Noah’s to tell; the later years are Jude’s. But they each have only half the story, and if they can only find their way back to one another, they’ll have a chance to remake their world. Rating: 5/5
This is one of those books that stays with you for a very long time. I loved it a lot and pretty much every aspect of it was perfect. I fell in love with both Noah and Jude and even though they both did some bad things I understand why they did them and felt sorry for both of them more than anything. They were both just trying to keep their head above the waves. They also both went through a lot of character development and I loved their relationships with Brian and Oscar. Also Guillermo is a great character and his story is as intriguing as the twins'. The plot was tied together so well. So many things you barely even realise when you're reading them suddenly mean the world when everything starts making sense later on. I loved the storyline and thought it was beautiful and well-thought out. Jandy Nelson says that in the three years that she was writing the book she sometimes forgot that Jude and Noah weren't real, and that really shines through in this book. The characters and their stories are very real. I would recommend this book to everyone! It's a bit bigger than the books I usually read, but it was honestly so worth it! For an intriguing story with great characters and loads of mystery; read I'll Give You the Sun!
