Hello guys! I thought I'd do something a little different today: a tag! As I've also not really spoken about myself much on this blog, I figured I'd combine the two by doing the Fifty Bookish Questions Tag so you can learn a bit more about me. I found this list on My Little Book Blog, who also did this, so link to her post here. Anyway, it's gonna be a long one so let's get to it! 1. What was the last book you read? I just finished Another Day by David Levithan! 2. Was it a good one? Reasonably good, but not as good as some other things I've read from this author. 3. What made it good? I'm a sucker for a bit of mystery! ------------------------------------click the ' read more ' button for the rest of the questions!------------------------------ 4. Would you recommend it to other people?
Generally, I'd recommend David Levithan to everyone, so I'd probably recommend this to anyone looking for a quick and easy read. 5. How often do you read? It depends on whether I'm on a roll, really. Sometimes I read a book a day for a week, other times I don't read anything for a few weeks. 6. Do you like to read? Boy, would this whole thing suck if I didn't! 7. What was the last bad book you read? Waiting For the Barbarians, by Coetzee, which I had to read for school. 8. What made you dislike it? The whole thing was a sexist party trying to glorify a disgusting old man preying on weaker, younger women. 9. Do you wish to be a writer? I used to write a lot, back in my fan fiction days, and I used to want to be an author. Nowadays, I'd like to write a book but I don't think I want to be a writer anymore. 10. Has any book ever influenced you greatly? My favourite book ever is The Outsiders of Uskoken Castle by Kurt Held, which I read when I was about eight. In it, there's this redheaded girl who leads a group of homeless kids and she's absolutely awesome. I'm a redhead too, and her fierceness made me want to be like her and taught me that I can do anything I want. 11. Do you read fan fiction? I used to! I was very big on both writing and reading it. 12. Do you write fan fiction? Not anymore. 13. What's your favourite book? Right now, I'd probably say Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan, or Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. 14. What's your least favourite book? My least favourite YA book is All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. If I ever feel I want to take a break from writing all positive reviews, I'll write one on that. 15. Do you prefer physical books or ready on a device (like a kindle)? Physical books without a doubt! I do have an e-reader, but I mostly use that to read school books that I don't want to spend money on. 16. When did you learn to read? I learnt the first bits and bobs when I was 3. 17. What is your favourite book you had to read in school? I had to read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, which to this day is still my favourite non-YA book. 18. What is your favourite book series? This is such a hard one! It always used to be the CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore, but I also really love the GONE series by Michael Grant and the Lorien Legacies by Pittacus Lore.. 19. Who is your favourite author? I feel like a fake book lover for actually having a favourite author, but it's probably Rainbow Rowell. I just love her books so much! 20. What is your favourite genre? I'm into pretty much anything YA, although I've not read any vampire or historical novels. 21. Who is your favourite character in a book series? Edilio Escobar from the GONE series. I will always love him he is the only person in the entire series who didn't annoy me at any point. 22. Has a book ever transported you somewhere else? I can never find a good reading position, so I can't get carried away as I'm changing positions every few minutes.. I do forget to eat or accidentally read till two am sometimes though! 23. Which book do you wish had a sequel? Eleanor and Park! Please, Rainbow Rowell, don't leave me hanging! 24. Which book do you wish didn't have a sequel? I think the sequel to the Hunger Games was kind of bad, but if it hadn't happened we wouldn't have had Mockingjay either and I did really like that one... 25. How long does it take you to read a book? It really depends on how much I'm loving it and whether I am busy with school/work. I can read a book in a day, but I can also take a month. 26. Do you like when books become movies? Sometimes. Some books should just not be made into movies because it won't work, but other times I would practically get on my knees begging for a director to make something into a movie (Geek Girl!!). 27. Which book was ruined by its movie adaptation? The Maze Runner. SUCH a dissapointing movie! The actors must've all been double the age of their characters and it was just a mess. 28. Which movie has done a book justice? I loved The Fault In Our Stars movie. I think it stayed true to the book and made me cry just as much as the book did. 29. Do you read newspapers? Rarely. I check news sites once a week or so online, if that counts. 30. Do you read magazines? Donald Duck comics have their own magazine where I live and I've been religiously reading those every week for 12 years now. 31. Do you prefer newspapers or magazines? Magazines. 32. Do you read while in bed? Yes! Even though it gives me horrible backpains... 33. Do you read while on the toilet? Nope, I'm not on the toilet for long enough to justify bringing a book, haha. 34. Do you read while in the car? I really, really cannot do that. I will throw up and that is not an exaggeration. 35. Do you read while in the bath? Nope, I'm way too scared to drop my book! 36. Are you a fast reader? This is actually one of the things I'm proudest of (my life is so exciting). I'm a very fast reader! I don't read as fast as I can when I'm just reading for fun though, so I think about 70 pages per hour would be a normal pace. 38. Are you a slow reader? No. 39. Where is your favourite place to read? Probably at my desk. 40. Do you need a room to be silent while you read? If I wanna read something quickly, then yes. Otherwise some general noise is fine, as long as I can't follow a conversation because then I will focus on that. 41. Who gave you your love for reading? My mom! She is always reading herself and is super passionate about books. When I was younger if I got a perfect score on something in school, I could choose between five euros or a book, so it became a challenge to get as many books through that as I could. 42. What book is next on your list to read? I Was Here by Gayle Foreman. 43. When did you start to read chapter books? Quite early on, but just children's chaptered books, so nothing complicated. 44. Who is your favourite children's book author? These would all be Dutch authors, so there's probably no point in naming them. 45. Which author would you most want to interview? John Green. Not just because he's an author but just because I love him and his brother on Youtube as well. 46. Which author do you think you'd be friends with? Rainbow Rowell! I relate so much to the books she writes, that I feel like we could really understand each other. 47. What book have you reread the most? The Recruit, by Robert Muchamore (The first book in the CHERUB series). 48. Which books do you consider "classics"? On the YA scene, I'd say The Fault in Our Stars, The Hunger Games and Divergent. 49. Which books do you think should be taught in every school? I'm very big on equality, so I genuinely think Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan could help kids see the world in a different way. 50. Which books should be banned from all schools? I wouldn't say any books should be banned, but I think students should be given a choice of what they want to read instead of making specific books compulsory. For example, I was made to read Wuthering Heights in year 11 and I hated it, but I think others could really enjoy it! So that was 50 questions answered! Thank you so much if you stuck by me throughout this whole thing, and I tag anyone with a book blog who wants to do this!
