Five library books and a book from the store (that I've already read, but loved so much that I want to own it too). Going to get started on some of the series that are very hyped on Bookstagram, so a bit of scifi/fantasy this Book Haul! THE SELECTION (THE SELECTION #1) - KIERA CASS SYNOPSIS: For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks. Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined. This series is on my List of Books That Everyone In the YA Community Loves, so I've got to read it. Got just the first book in the series for now, but will get more if I like it! THRONE OF GLASS (THRONE OF GLASS #1) - SARAH J. MAAS SYNOPSIS: Meet Celaena Sardothien. Beautiful. Deadly. Destined for greatness. In the dark, filthy salt mines of Endovier, an eighteen-year-old girl is serving a life sentence. She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake. She got caught. Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament—fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin’s heart be melted? This one is also on the list of series that the YA community loves, so I'm going to give this one a shot too! SILENCE IS GOLDFISH - ANNABEL PITCHER SYNOPSIS: My name is Tess Turner - at least, that's what I've always been told. I have a voice but it isn't mine. It used to say things so I'd fit in, to please my parents, to please my teachers. It used to tell the universe I was something I wasn't. It lied. It never occurred to me that everyone else was lying too. But the words that really hurt weren't the lies: it was six hundred and seventeen words of truth that turned my world upside down. Words scare me, the lies and the truth, so I decided to stop using them. I am Pluto. Silent. Inaccessible. Billions of miles away from everything I thought I knew. Tessie-T has never really felt she fitted in and after what she read that night on her father's blog she knows for certain that she never will. How she deals with her discovery makes an entirely riveting, heart-breaking story told through Tess's eyes as she tries to find her place in the world. This book is written by the same author as Under the Ketchup Clouds, which I really liked. Neither of those books are very hyped in the community, but I think Under the Ketchup Clouds is worthy of more praise than it gets and I hope Silence Is Goldfish lives up to my expectations as well! GONE (GONE #1) - MICHAEL GRANT SYNOPSIS: In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. Gone. Except for the young. There are teens, but not one single adult. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your 15th birthday, you disappear just like everyone else... I've already read the entire Gone series (link to my review here!) but I don't own them. I got all the books from the library when I read them, but I love this series a lot and the books were all on sale for 7 euros a piece. I only bought one of them because I don't know if it's worth buying an entire series that I've already read just for aesthetical reasons ;) That's it for this random middle-of-June haul! I finished my June Haul books much earlier than expected, so more books were needed! Let me know if you've read any of these books and what you thought of them!
