SYNOPSIS: When the Princess of Nova accidentally poisons herself with a love potion meant for her crush, she falls crown-over-heels in love with her own reflection. Oops. A nationwide hunt is called to find the cure, with competitors travelling the world for the rarest ingredients, deep in magical forests and frozen tundras, facing death at every turn. Enter Samantha Kemi - an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. Sam's family were once the most respected alchemists in the kingdom, but they've fallen on hard times, and winning the hunt would save their reputation. But can Sam really compete with the dazzling powers of the ZoroAster megapharma company? Just how close is Sam willing to get to Zain Aster, her dashing former classmate and enemy, in the meantime? I was so excited to read this book, as Zoella from YouTube put it in her bookclub so I figured it had to be good. And it was, kind of. Overall I liked it; the story was nice, the characters were well developed and the world was cool and thought out. But in the end I just was just missing some kind of wow-factor. Something to make me love this book instead of just thinking it was okay. I don't want to give too much away, but for me, the looking for ingredients took too long and it got a little boring. I was waiting for something exciting to happen but the story just went exactly the way I expected it to without any surprises. The idea for this book is super good and I did like it altogether, but I just think it could have been better. Samantha was a very lovely character and I liked her and her friend Anita a lot. The way Evelyn's love for herself is described was also funny. It's a nice and easy read, so if you're looking for that then I'd recommend it, but if you're looking for your next favourite book, probably not.
